Mr John Vassiliadis

Director, Information Communication And Technology

Mr John Vassiliadis is the Director Department of Information & Communication Technology responsible for planning, organising and coordinating the provision of Information Technology (IT) service in an effective and efficient manner. 

He graduated with a Masters in Information Security and Intelligence from Edith Cowen University in Australia. Prior to that he Studied at University of Botswana where he   attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. Furthermore, he graduated with a Postgraduate Certificate in Telecommunications Regulation from the University of Westminster in the UK. Before joining the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), Mr Vassiliadis worked at the Office of the President and the Ministry of Transport and Communications holding various IT related positions. Some key industry certifications he has attained are Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical hacker (CEH) and Prince 2 Practitioner.

Mr Vassiliadis’ role entails the provision of advice in the management of information systems and provision of IT support. He leads the development and review of the ICT strategic information planning. He also develops and coordinates the implementation of the relevant IT policies and strategies as per the overall mission, vision and values of HRDC. Additionally, he advises management on best IT practices in relation to development and compliance to established Laws, regulations, procedures and set guidelines.  

He is a current board member for Botswana Fiber Networks (BoFiNet), where he is currently serving his second term. He is a former Botswana Immigrants Sector-Specific Board (Board A) member.
