Ms Helen C. Chilisa


Ms Chilisa’s is the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic Education (Reforms). Her career is a manifest to years of dedication to the promotion and endorsement of Botswana’s economy. Her various employment activities have garnered her experience in banking, manufacturing and most particularly aviation and tourism, and her roles have encompassed relationship management, marketing as well as commercial and business development.

Prior to her appointment, she was the Country Manager for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). This leadership role has been a natural progression in that as the national head of a professional membership organisation, she brings to bear the necessary human resource and leadership skills, commercial and regulatory appreciation of the Botswana economy as well as the essential local and international networks vital to the advancement of the highest professional, technical and ethical standards in Botswana’s accounting profession.

Her educational qualifications consist of an Associate Diploma in Tourism and Management from the International Institute of Tourism and Management in Austria, a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel and Hospitality Management from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, a Master of Science degree in International Marketing from the same and an Executive MBA in Aerospace Management from the University of Montréal. Further, Helen recently graduated with a MBA in Aerospace Management from the Toulouse School of Business in France.
